Set of 10 Staffordshire “Fish Market Toronto” Plates

Vintage set of 10 Ridgway of Staffordshire 'Heritage' pattern dinner plates featuring the Fish Market of Toronto.

Manufactured during the 1960's, the 'Heritage' pattern itself was adapted from a series of sketches and watercolors by William Bartlett, a young (at that time!) English artist. From June through November of 1838, Bartlett traveled through eastern Canada creating his artwork. This art was later engraved onto steel plates for mass printing. Images from Bartletts journey were published as "Canadian Scenery Illustrated", an 1842 collection featuring over one hundred of Bartlett's steel engravings. Perfect for Christmas and Thanksgiving.

Each plate measures approximately 9.75" in diameter. Backstamped. Sold as a set.

Excellent vintage condition considering age and use - some a little faded and one has a tiny, tiny chip.
